Orappam is traditionaly made with rice or chanadal. I am using chanadal (chick pea dal).
1&1/2 Cups Chana dal (split Chick pea) 3&1/2 Cups coconut Milk or regular milk 1&1/2 cups Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbls.) butter or ghee 1 Cup cashew halves and rasins 1 Egg 1/2 tsp. Cardamom Powder 1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
Cook Chana Dal with little water and milk. When it is fully cooked add sugar and little butter at a time. It should be think.
Fry cashews in butter for 5 minutes and and rasins, remove from heat. Add cashew in cooked Chana Dal. Beat one egg and add it as well. Add Cardamom and Nutmeg powder and Mix well. Now take a baking pan and add two tablespoons of butter and heat over stove. Spread the melted butter in pan evenly. Pour the batter in pan. Bake in 300 F oven for 2 to 2&1/2 hours or until stick comes out clean.
