Swiss Roll or Jam Roll By Sherly at 2007-11-29 14:25:16
|
To make Swiss Roll or Jam Roll we would need sponge cake.
Sponge Cake: 4 Eggs 115 grams. /(5 oz.) Sugar 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder 115 grams. /(5 oz.) All purpose flour or Maida 2 drops - Vanilla Essence 1 pinch Salt 2 tsp. Milk Powder
Filling: Jam of any flavor
Sieve the flour, baking powder and milk powder together. Add a pinch of salt while beating eggs. When it becomes double in bulk add sugar little by little and beat continually. Add vanilla essence in it. Add flour with cut and fold method so that the air bubbles may not die down. Pour in a baking dish. Make sure that the hight should not be thicker than 3/4". Bake it for 20-30 minutes in 350 F oven.
Remove from heat and let it cool for 5 min. on cooling rack. Meanwhile take a wet kitchen towel and put the cake upside down on kitchen towel (The bottom part would be visible). Spread the jam evenly over it. Slowly roll the kitchen towel with cake, carefully pulling the towel outside so that it does not roll together with cake. Make a tight roll and put it in refrigerator for at least one hour. Remove from refrigerator and make slices. Swiss roll is ready.
